In the interest of transparency and accountability, this year the Election Board will make public every time it finds a candidate has violated Election Rules and issues a sanction in response.
A complaint was reported to the Election Board that Anthony Jankoski posted a picture to Facebook promoting the endorsement of a UMBC student without filing the proper paperwork with the Election Board. The post in question has since been removed.
By a vote of 7-0, the Election Board decided that Jankoski violated Election Rule #9, which requires candidates to file all organization and student endorsements with the Election Board prior to using them to promote their campaign.
By a vote of 6-0 with 1 member absent, the Election Board determined that the proper sanction for the violation was an official warning to the Jankoski-Amsini campaign.
In accordance with the SGA Constitution, "All decisions of the Elections Board are final and not subject to appeal."
Any student may file a complaint about potential violations of Election Rules by emailing the Election Board Chair, Evan Leiter-Mason, at leiter1@umbc.edu.
