In the interest of transparency and accountability, this year the Election Board will make public every time it finds a candidate has violated Election Rules and issues a sanction in response.
A complaint was reported to the Election Board that Kelly Robier posted two pictures to Facebook promoting the endorsement of UMBC students without filing the proper paperwork with the Election Board. The posts in question have since been removed.
The Corbett-Robier campaign accepted full responsibility for violating Election Rule #9, which requires candidates to file all organization and student endorsements with the Election Board prior to using them to promote their campaign.
By a vote of 7-0, the Election Board determined that the proper sanction for the violation was an official warning to the Corbett-Robier campaign.
In accordance with the SGA Constitution, "All decisions of the Elections Board are final and not subject to appeal."
Any student may file a complaint about potential violations of Election Rules by emailing the Election Board Chair, Evan Leiter-Mason, at leiter1@umbc.edu.
