On Wednesday, May 7, 2014, the SIAM Student Chapter at the University
of Maryland, Baltimore County, hosted a “How to Start a Business”
event. We were fortunate to have two wonderful guest speakers. Sue
Plitt, Associate Director of the Career Services Center provided advice
on making a good professional impression, which is essential to
obtaining the support to start your own business. Then Les Craig,
co-founder of RedOwl Analytics, shared his experiences when starting his
company and provided invaluable advice for future entrepreneurs. He
answered many student questions and was a fabulous guest speaker. The
event provided visibility to the SIAM Student Chapter as it was attended
by students from many departments on campus and was a great success!
