On October 14 2015 the SIAM student chapter hosted a seminar on the subject of "Big Data," for which two speakers from the department of Mathematics and Statistics here at UMBC, Dr. Lo and Dr. Park, gave there take on what this growing subject means for each of them in their own research.
The event was a big success, with many undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty in attendance.
The speakers gave an introduction to Big Data and left the audience with different insights into current research in their fields.
