On Wednesday, April 29, 2015, the SIAM Student Chapter at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, hosted its second “How to Start a Business” event after a very successful event of this nature last year.  We were fortunate to have a wonderful guest speaker, Tom McCabe, a mathematician, entrepreneur, author, and the founder of McCabe Software.  Mr. McCabe tailored his talk to starting a business with a mathematics background.  He described how he started his business and then discussed how to find a good niche for a business.  Mr. McCabe answered many student questions and provided valuable advice.  The event provided visibility to the SIAM Student Chapter as it was attended by students from many departments on campus and was a great success!
