This program is seeking students who want to seriously explore pursuing a career in biological research. Students will pair with faculty members and study how an organism's phenotype is influenced by the interplay of its genotype and environment. There will also be academic/professional development activities in addition to planned social events and field trips to the Blue Ridge Mtns. and the South Carolina Coast.
Who should apply?
- Students who want to participate in first rate biological research
- Students who are interested in the possibility of earning a Ph.D. in biology or related area
- Students who have completed at least one biology or chemistry course
- Students who are currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year college or university and who will not complete their bachelor's degree before May 2017
- United States Citizens or Permanent Residents
- Priority will be given to students early in their undergraduate careers and from schools with limited research opportunities
- Members of demographic groups that are underrepresented in sciences are particularly encouraged to apply
Program Details
- 10 week program from May 22 - July 29, 2016
- $5250 stipend
- Room and board and access to student fitness facilities
- Travel costs up to $500 per student
