The Library received a furniture delivery this morning: 25 tables of various types, 18 Conference Room chairs, and 50 general seating chairs. This delivery is stored in the Reference Room, along with earlier deliveries.
A delivery of 25 refurbished chairs had to be refused due to the finish being light oak instead of red oak. These chairs had been destined for the vending machine area. The Library will find existing chairs to use there until the 25 chairs are refinished and delivered again.
In addition to the furniture delivery, the furniture from the Atrium is stored in the Reference Room in preparation for a floor treatment to be started at closing time today. The Atrium should be available and furnished again for public use around 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. We apologize for this loss of service to those who might have needed to use the Atrium today or early tomorrow morning.
The storage of furniture in the Reference Room makes visiting the Technology Support Center a bit complicated, though there is a path to it, we think. The passageway to the Learning Resource Center is even more blocked, but fortunately, LRC tutoring services are not scheduled to start until about two weeks from now.
The stairwell next to the atrium is being prepared to be the public stairs between the 2nd floor and the lower level. Library users may also take the East wing elevator between the 2nd floor and the lower level. However, there will no longer be public access between the first floor and the lower level. We are exploring the possibility of refurbishing the stairwell in the center of the East wing to become the public access between the 2nd floor and the lower level.
