The Information Systems Council of Majors was established in 2002 and it is comprised of motivated individuals united by a common interest in the many facets of information technology, computer science, finance and business.

The mission of ISCOM is to provide a centralized venue for communication between students, faculty, staff, alumni, and IT companies; a constant stream of updated information and resources pertaining to the IS major, an IT career, and any other type of information of value to UMBC IS students; and a strong sense of community among IS students by providing social interaction among ISCOM members, IS students, and the IS department.
ISCOM provides a unique experience in which students are able to enrich their knowledge of the IT world through corporate and community interaction, professional workshops, tutoring, group discussions, community service, and various other activities. ISCOM provides numerous opportunities for students to network with corporate professionals in order to explore career opportunities and enhance their learning experience beyond the classroom. ISCOM promotes academic excellence, professional development, and leadership development for undergraduate students as preparation for the rigors that they will face at corporations, government agencies, non-profit organizations and entrepreneurial ventures in the 21st century.
