What is the purpose of the UMBC Ambassador Program?
UMBC Ambassadors assist the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation in recruiting students to the university. Ambassadors are vital members of the UMBC community through their support of admissions programs and campus-wide events.
Main priorities include:
· Participating in online chats
· Hosting prospective students
· Acting as UMBC liaisons
*Often, Ambassadors are a significant factor in a prospective student’s decision to attend UMBC.

What is expected of a UMBC Ambassador?
Each UMBC Ambassador is expected to participate in Admissions programs and as many special programs and events as possible. Also, each Ambassador is expected to attend training and any regularly scheduled meetings, and to read and respond to all communications.
*The commitment is approximately 10-20
hours per semester.
Will UMBC Ambassadors be trained to be a leader?
YES! All Ambassadors will be required to attend new member training and semester meetings. During training, we will teach you how to be an effective student ambassador. You will receive all the information needed on how to act as a liaison, student panelist, escort, as well as mix and mingle with guests and even public speaking.
What do we look for in UMBC Ambassadors?
We are looking for students who are positive and enthusiastic about sharing their UMBC experiences with the public. We are seeking eager students who are motivated, passionate, and dedicated to assisting the Admissions Office in the recruitment of prospective students to UMBC.
