The Honors College at UMBC has limited funds available for members of the College to pursue their studies or research during Summer 2015. The College particularly encourages its members to apply for support for research and/or special projects.
Scholarships will be awarded for study both in this country and abroad; small research awards may be used to defray such expenses for travel, i.e. to work in libraries or to conduct interviews, or of obtaining copies of documents. Past awards have ranged from $100 to $1000.
Applicants should submit a resume, a completed application (linked), a budget for the activity, and a description of the research project or course of study. For a research award, a letter from the UMBC faculty member directing the project must accompany the application. For a scholarship, the student must submit a letter of recommendation from a member of the UMBC faculty. Letters can be submitted by e-mail to spstacey@umbc.edu.
The deadline for applications is April 30, 2015. Awards will be announced in early May. For further information, contact the Honors College at 410-455-3720 or by e-mail.
