About This Group

The mission of the UHS Office of Health Education is to provide accurate and comprehensive education about health and wellness for the UMBC campus community.

Our vision is to create a culture in which all members of the UMBC community have the information and skills they need to make responsible, well-informed decisions regarding their health and well-being while at UMBC and throughout their lives. We are committed to ongoing assessment and evaluation in search of innovative methods to pursue our vision. We cover the topics of:

Alcohol and Other Drugs
Healthy Relationships
Stress Management and Relaxation Techniques
Nutrition and Exercise
Eating Disorders
STI and HIV/AIDS Education
Sexual and Reproductive Health
Sexual Assault
And many more!

Are you interested in becoming a Peer Health Educator? Peers can earn 3 upper level credits per semester that they are in the program. Other perks of the program include:

Becoming more involved on campus
Educating your peers about sexual health, alcohol, drugs, stress, nutrition & other important health issues
Enhancing your public speaking skills
Assisting with health education events on campus
Meeting new people, working on a team and having fun!
