Bang-Bang
2D maybe Mobile Gun Game
posted about 12 years ago
Wes back with the third game proposal for the Game Jam!
Bang-Bang is a 2D gun based game set in the old west. The basic game is what should be the focus of the prototype but this idea has a lot of places to improve upon. But anyway, back to basics:
Three actions available per round; player takes one
Shoot - fire a bullet at the enemy, uses a bullet, wins vs reload; tie with shoot
Reload - add one bullet to gun
Shield - defend from shoot actions, no effect otherwise
As it was pointed out in the game pitch meeting, this game has a few pitfalls in cycle issues such as constant shielding. Lucky for all of us that they came up with absolutely tons of ways to make this game the best it can be! Here are some of the suggestions that can really make this game shine:
Versus mode - probably the most important, as a human vs human would be the most ideal form of the game
Roundtable combat - more than one opponent to add variety and diversity, being able to only target certain people; this would probably involve some sort of health system
Shield Durability - prevent the shield from being perfect; you can wear down shields and break them to prevent usage
Shield Recharge - prevent over use of the shield; cannot guard constantly
More weapons! - various new guns with a purchasing system that would offer more variety in the how the three standards actions can be played; ie a gun could take longer to reload but hit harder or maybe a gun that reloads more bullets than just one.
Rhythm play - increase the pace of the game to force faster decisions
I really look forward to seeing what this game could be. As always, feel free to add your own thoughts or comments onto this idea or ask questions about anything you like.
Game on!
