A fast-paced 2d platformer with a unique mechanic

This 2d platformer will have wall-jumping and sliding, as well as obstacle dodging and possibly enemy interaction.
The unique mechanic is the player's ability to spawn a block of 'matter' in his location, causing him to be launched in a certain direction.
This mix of mechanics has the potential to create some very fun and exciting gameplay.
I am looking at using Flatredball as the game engine, although I'm also considering using Unity3d to make it a 2.5d game (think Trine).
