Dear Colleagues,
In recent years, UMBC's Supplement for Undergraduate Research Experiences (SURE) program has provided $1,500 grants on a competitive basis to members of the faculty wishing to hire undergraduate research assistants in their first four semesters at UMBC (i.e., freshmen, sophomores, transfers). This year, we are combining the SURE application process with the application to hire a student through the Federal Work Study program. This will enable professors to hire either an FWS-eligible student or a student in their first four semesters.
Applications are considered for FWS support on a rolling basis through August. After the FWS matching process is complete, any unmatched SURE-eligible applications to FWS will be considered for SURE funds. Please note that this is the only way to be considered for SURE funds this year.
For the full announcement and to apply, please see https://research.umbc.edu/sure/
Sincerely,
—
