For some time the DPS IT Systems group has been entertaining the idea of holding regular "Lunch and Learn" sessions for DPS. For some reason or another we failed to launch the plan. Now we have decided to give these sessions a try. DPS IT will hold these sessions weekly every Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Our plan for the format of these sessions are to have a topic of the week that will be reviewed for approximately the first thirty minutes. The remainder of the session is optional for people to stay and will be used for questions and or demonstrations. Also in the 2nd half of the session if you have any type of technology or process type of question related or unrelated to the topic shared that day participants can ask these questions then as well.
Some weeks we may not have a specific topic to review. In these cases someone from DPS IT will be on duty for the hour to assist any DPS employee that wants to drop by and ask a question or have something demonstrated.
All sessions will be listed in the DPS - Internal myUMBC Group under the Events tab so please check for the schedule. We will try to keep the schedule updated. We also plan to alternate the sessions between a location on the 4th floor of Sherman Hall and a space on the 2nd floor of the University Center. Again the information under the Events tab in the DPS - Internal myUMBC Group will contain the session location and other information.
One requirement to participate in these sessions is that you have to bring a mobile device (i.e. laptop, tablet, smartphone) to gain entry. These sessions may involve hands-on learning. If you need to borrow a device you will need to submit a request to DPS IT at least a day in advance of the session.
