For approximately 6 months some members of DPS have been using a tool that DPS IT acquired named Basecamp.  This is a project tracking application.  It can be very helpful for keeping communication and updates "flowing" throughout a project by using the tools within the application as well as in conjunction with email.  Also the task list (called to-dos) functionality is helpful for assigning tasks to project team members and providing updates.  Lastly Basecamp has the flexibility to easily facilitate communication with people that may be external to the organization, but are also part of a certain project.
