The Cyber Incubator@bwtech is a unique, innovative business incubation program that delivers business and technical support to early stage companies providing technology-related products and services to the government and commercial markets, with a special emphasis on cyber security. The incubator is located in a Class A office suite at the bwtech@UMBC Research and Technology Park, adjacent to the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
The incubator provides business services specifically tailored for the special needs of these companies, including market assessment, fundraising assistance, business planning, networking, and a business advisory board. The incubator also offers the Cync Program, an innovative cybersecurity partnership and scholarship program with Northrop Grumman.
- Work directly with bwtech’s incubator companies to provide support and guidance on their go-to-market strategies, revenue generation models, marketing, business plan development, investor pitches and other needed areas (e.g., financing, management, etc.).
- Through discovery, help companies set goals and milestones toward effective growth. Make introductions and referrals (via networks) as appropriate to other experienced executives to aid company executive growth and also to increase visibility of bwtech’s programs and offerings.
- Assist with business development activities at bwtech@UMBC by participating in the refinement of bwtech’s business and programming strategies for the Cyber Incubator, CyberHive and Cync programs.
- Attend meetings and conferences in support of Cyber Incubator, Cync activities and companies; help scout for and recruit qualified Cyber Incubator and Cync prospects.
- Serving on bwtech’s Cyber Advisory Board (CAB), which meets three times per year.
- Serving on the Cync Executive Committee (CEC), whose goals include vetting companies for inclusion into the Northrop Grumman Cync program.
