Wii U difficulties when on campus
Am I the only one having this problem?

Hello to any Nintendo gamers living on-campus:
Two weeks ago I tried turning my Wii U on for the first time since I had moved into my new dorm, only to find after a few minutes of playing that the Gamepad suddenly disconnected and would refuse to connect again. If I set it aside for a while and tried again later, it would work properly at first, but again disconnect not long afterward. I assumed it was interference in my room, whatever could possibly be causing it, but I have since tried to use it in my floor's common area and in the lounge of the complex's central building and gotten similar results. I looked up online to see if anyone had had similar issues, and it seemed like it was an internal malfunction that could only be solved by sending the console in to Nintendo to be repaired. However, later that same week I was able to return home for one night, fully prepared to leave the Wii U there until I could figure out how to go about sending it in, but I plugged it up again to give one last test, and lo and behold this time it worked perfectly again, letting me play for several hours straight without any sign of a disconnect. Now I'm of course back in my dorm again and it's returned to never working.
The only conclusion I can come to this is that, somehow, the dorm itself is producing some kind of interference that's preventing the Gamepad and console from connecting. This completely baffles me because last year my roommate had his own Wii U that he played in his room and it worked perfectly fine (both years I've lived in Harbor Hall, currently on the third floor, last year on the first). I've been meaning to try bringing it somewhere else in the campus to see if I can get better results away from the dorm, something that would fortunately be helped by the fact that it doesn't require a TV to play. So, to sum up, I'm just posting this to ask: is anyone else having a problem like this?
Addendum: Since posting this I have brought my Wii U to other locations on the campus to test, including the game room in the Commons, and each time has yielded the same results as before. At this point, unless it turns out that I'm the only person having this kind of problem, I can only assume that there's something about the college as a whole that's causing the interference.
