The Monsanto Protection Act is going to expire on Sept. 30. Get your lawsuits ready. :-P
The Monsanto Protection Act was first passed when House republicans quietly added it to the House Agriculture Appropriations Bill at the last second. The House Agriculture Appropriations Bill was a short term funding bill to avoid a government shutdown. The democrats passed it and Obama signed it to avoid a shutdown.
The republicans have added a 3-month extension to the Monsanto Protection Act in their same bill to defund Obamacare. The senate already stated they would not pass a bill that extends the Monsanto Protection Act and since the republicans attached it to the same bill that defunds Obamacare, I don't see it passing.
For those that are unaware. The Monsanto Protection Act pretty much protects Monsanto and others from lawsuits, even if their genetically modified seeds (GMO) causes harm.
