Libya vs Bosnia: Are There Any similarities?
Is the UN Security Council's Vote A True Act of Good Heart
posted over 13 years ago
As you may have heard or read, the UN Security Council has just voted to allow a no-fly-zone to be imposed on Libya in order to prevent Col. M. Kadhafi from massacring its own people. To such an action,, I have the following questions to ask: when is a no-fly-zone necessary? Is the UN Security Council's vote a true act of good will and altruism, like the one in Bosnia in 1997, or are they two different things done for two very different reasons? What does that mean for the United States? Are we now being led by France since President Nicholas Sarkozy was and remains the only head-of-state so far in the world to recognize the legitimacy of the Libyan rebel as the sole true representative government of the Libya?
