The second most important commandment
....but who obeys it?

Ok. So, I'm discussing the nature of reality with the usual suspects here, and then one of them says...."Yes, but the reason you don't have to obey the Ten Commandments, per se, is that it's all covered by Mark 12:31.
Mark 12:31 says " The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
It's referring to the most important two commandments.
It's attributed to Jesus in the Bible.
Now, that got me thinking. Wow. It's one thing to say "Well, I didn't kill anyone. And I didn't steal....etc. etc."
But loving one's neighbor AS ONESELF...is a much taller order.
So I asked the other student (who for sake of anonymnity I will call Attie Meck), well...do you obey the Second Most important commandment?
And in kind of a pharisaic way, he said "I do....and you can't prove otherwise." Yeah. Very convincing.
So....I wanted to ask those people who describe themselves as Christians a question. If God were asking you, would you say "Yes, I love my neighbor as myself (meaning...I'd shelter him, clothe him, feed him, etc. just as I do myself). Please understand that I think the passage is referring to neighbor as anyone who lives in your community (broadly defined to be where you work/play/live).
I gotta believe 99% of people (if answering honestly) would say "no." And the last 1% are liars.
Thoughts?
