6 Black Kittens, Free to a Good Home
posted over 11 years ago
I went outside to take a walk because the weather is phenomenal, and I happened to discover some kittens behind my house.
Four of them are friendlier than the other two; one of the latter has warmed up a little bit but the other still runs and hides and peeps from under a shed. Of the four, one's a bit more "active" than the others and will hardly sit still if you're there. One or two of the four are very docile and will sit calmly and not make a scene as long as they're fed. One of the quieter ones hisses a bit but he doesn't scratch.
I don't know how to judge kitten ages, but they're on the order of weeks. They can hop and climb and do little half-running movements, and their eyes are obviously fully open, but beyond that they're very much still babies. They look fairly healthy: not malnourished; coats are clean, eyes don't have gunk caked on them. They're old enough to eat solid food: they definitely like deli ham.
I doubt the neighbor considers them theirs, or else I don't know why they would be on our side of the fence, but I'm going to ask them to make sure. Somebody had put out water for them, but that's the only sign of human contact they showed. There were noises of cats fighting down the block at night, so their mom might be around, but she hasn't shown herself. I'll keep watching to see.
Obviously since they're likely strays they haven't been to the vet for shots, but they seem otherwise healthy and who doesn't want a cute baby kitten?
So I'm "putting them up for adoption," prior to calling the animal shelter to pick them up. Now's your chance to get a cat, or several, without having to pay a bunch of money to get them from a pet shop. And you could save a life and give a lost kitty a good home in the process! Let me know if you're interested!
