Marriage Proposals: What Are You Guys Planning?
posted over 11 years ago
I was just sitting and thinking about what sort of way I would like to propose to my future wife. Picking a memorable and important way to do it, and location for the event, and possibly even a significant date, is something that seems to be natural and go into every guy's romantic calculus.
I want to open up the floor for the guys to share. How do you plan to pop the question? And where? What's the significance of the different pieces of your grand design?
I'll say this much, here. I want to propose on a mountaintop at sunset. The setting sun will symbolize the passing of one phase of our lives and the beginning of a new one. We'll lay out at night and look at the stars, and consider that it's only because the sky is dark that you can see each point of light--this'll symbolize the hard times ahead within which we will nonetheless be able to perceive beauty if we look in the right places. Then the rising sun will symbolize the end of life, when the darkness will end, and it will also symbolize the end of our single lives and the beginning of a much brighter era of being together and warmed by the light in each of us. And then we'll walk down the mountain.
Something like that.
What are you doing? Please share!
