Tim Tebow or Jason Collins: Who is the real hero?

Yes, I saw what happened in this thread.
I would like to know what the myUMBC community thinks about these two iconic personalities. For many people, these men are treated as heroes. But why? Essentially, both men have stood up for what they believe in, although their beliefs are starkly different from one another.
Tim Tebow, on the one hand, has endured a lot of slander and has become the butt of much of the media's jests while Jason Collins, on the other, has recently been treated as a hero for coming out of the closet about something which political correctness guilt-trips everyone into supporting--being gay and proud of it. Mind you, Tim Tebow never actually came out of the closet about anything. He simply stayed true to his principles and exemplified them regardless of people's opinions, for which he has been treated as vilely as Sarah Palin.
So what do you think? Who is the real hero?
