Parking on campus
posted over 11 years ago
I know it's not just me who has noticed this, but parking on campus (especially around erickson garage) this semester has been nothing short of horrible. On Wednesday's I work the morning shift 530am-12noon and usually get back to campus around 12:30 to the same thing every week. No spots, not a single one. Not one in erickson garage, the west hill parking lot, or the loop, at least as far as center road. Today, i literally circled erickson garage for over a half an hour before I was lucky enough to spot some lovely lady walking to her car.
It seems to me that most days on campus, its either desperately try to find a spot, or play the ticket game. I personally hate doing both, I already have one parking ticket on the year and feel no need to get another. But its sooo hard not to, I get so tired driving up and down the road, looking left and right and left again, that I'm half a heartbeat away from parking in front of a burning building fire hydrant just so I can be done with it.
A couple questions:
Does anybody know if the school has been working on expanding the C permit spots?
Why is the terrace lot closed when nobody is using it?

I really think that the best possible solution to this is to not charge parking in the visitor spots. 25 cents per 15mins is a rip-off and those spots could be put to much better use.
