Potential Color Guard
An attempt to start colorguard through UMBC's pep band
posted over 11 years ago
I know the color guard groups here at UMBC have been a bit iffy. I'm hoping to change that by using my connections as a member of UMBC's Pep band, The Down n' Dirty Dawg Band, and using it as a way to kick start an awesome color guard could potentially perform along with the pep band at many of UMBC's basketball, soccer, and lacrosse games (especially basketball), as well as at yearly parades and events the pep band performs at (i.e. pep-rallies throughout the year, the Arbutus and Catonsville 4th of July parades, the America East Conference tournaments, etc.). I have already proposed this idea to the band director, Matt Basch, and he is willing to help make this idea a success, however there needs to be enough interest so he may be able to propose this idea to the athletic department so the band can get more funding for the color guard. I am very willing to devote time and leadership to make all of this work, as I know it will be very rewarding and enjoyable if this works, and I know many people have been interested in joining UMBC's "on-and-off color guard" so I am trying to give those people a strong chance at actually starting a functional group that has fun performing while being a brand new part of the pep band family. Please, please let me know if your are interested. Also don't hesitate to share ideas to help launch an awesome color guard.
