I'm on the floor and I do agree that it is fairly quiet with the people that are living here now. "Awesome/Intellectual or Boring" is a pretty bad way to slice things. As a general rule UMBC is the type of place where everyone is serious about what they do and you will have to go out of your way to make your own fun. The freshman dorms may help you more with that as it is mostly new students and you'll get a healthy few weeks of hand-holding and activities if you're into that. As far as the HUM floor goes, I am currently the only phil major here afaik, there are some language/sociology/history people, all good kids but I'm not entirely sure its what you're looking for.
