Blasts kill runners and spectators, casualty toll rising

More info on this is coming out moment by moment. So far several have been killed, many others severely injured as the result of two blasts occurring in the spectator area near the finish line of the 117th Boston Marathon.
I was just an itty bitty but I recall my father (an elite runner) qualifying and finishing what is virtually considered the holy grail of marathons. Although I did not fully understand it at the time, I knew it was a very special race. I was a very proud little kid when my daddy ran across the finish line.
This event simply breaks my heart on many levels.
Condolences to the victims, families, friends, support crews, volunteers....and all endurance runners alike who put aside race, religion, nationality and all other defining biases to compete in friendly sport.
