There are always threads on myUMBC either advertising rooms or trying to find roommates. However, myUMBC isn't exactly ideal for this, as the posts don't stay on the front page for very long, and are mixed in with everything else - it can be hard to advertise your room effectively when your post is on the third page after a week. Craigslist/Uloop/OCH101 work too, but there is no central place for roommate searching/advertising within UMBC. 

Now that this is done, are people interested in a website specifically dedicated to advertising and finding rooms? This would be limited to people with a UMBC email address; you could advertise or search through listings for off-campus/on-campus housing, with criteria such as gender, price, location, and other optional requirements (such as smoking, noise level, etc.). Sort of what ResLife does with their housing survey, but instead of them matching you up based on a couple of answers, you would be able to find potential roommates and contact them yourself. It would be fast and easy to use, no need for creating an account and all that.

I make no promises, but if there is enough interest, I might come up with a working version during the summer.
