CALL FOR ARTISTS! Contemporary exhibition on Mental Neuroses
Show your artwork in a Baltimore Gallery! Apply by April 8th
CALL FOR ARTISTS
Theme of Exhibition:
I am curating a show of contemporary artists who are depicting and investigating the subjects of various neuroses and mental instabilities as the main subject matter in their work. This includes but is not limited to cases of phobias, manias, OCD, depression, anxieties and how these individuals cope with or repress these realities in response to the opinions projected upon them by a changing society.
I am arguing that these contemporary artists depicting this subject matter are rebelling against the fact that for too long these neuroses have been repressed and feared because of the social stigma attached to them, but by depicting these neuroses and personal instabilities as everyday realities, they are opening up a public conversation about this once avoided topic. I want the show to celebrate the “quirks” that make everyone unique.
