umbc.box.com access after graduation?
Will I lose access to umbc.box.com after graduation?
posted over 11 years ago
So I recently learned about umbc.box.com, and it looks like a great way to share things!
The only issue is that I'm graduating in May, and I don't want to lose access to any files I put there after graduation. So my question is, will current UMBC students lose access to their umbc.box.com files after graduation?

Hi Alessandra,
My name is Andrea, and I work at the Technology Support Center. I'm actually the one writing the documentation on Box for DoIT, so I can provide some insight into this. Since Box is a fairly new service on campus and we are an early adopter of Box's venture into Higher Education, we, along with other universities, are working out many of the procedures for the first time.
With that being said, given that we do have limited storage on Box, we are only offering Box to current students, faculty, and staff which means after graduation, you will lose access. We are still ironing out the procedure and notifications that will be sent out, but the short answer is you will eventually lose access and will need to download the files if you wish to keep them. The good news is Box does offer free accounts at box.com, so you could always put the files into a personal Box account after graduation.
I hope that helps.
