Dining for Women
"Changing the World One Dinner at a Time"-DFW
posted almost 12 years ago
Would anyone be interested in starting a Dining for Women chapter on campus with me?
The purpose of the chapter is to meet for a potluck dinner where topics affecting women in developing countries such as, food and water security, economic development, education, healthcare, and human rights are discussed. Then members donate a certain amount of cash, whatever they would have spent on going out to dinner, to the Dining for Women organization.
Once money has been collected from all of the chapters, DFW donates the combined amount to international programs working to empower women. Each month they choose a different program to focus on. 85% of the donations go to the international programs while 15% goes to DFW in order to help support the organization.
Here is the website for more information: http://www.diningforwomen.org/
The only requirements when starting a chapter is to meet at least 4 times a year.
If anyone is interested comment on this discussion! I'll keep checking back.
