Do We Really Want a myUMBC Forum?
Or should we just link directly to 4-chan?

Ok, over the past week (probably a lot longer than that) we've seen a lot of posts with a lot of emotion (and more memes than I care to count). That being the case, shouldn't we ask ourselves whether or not we want this forum in the first place?
For those who do want to seriously discuss things, I ask you to consider the following:
Bearing in mind that it seems silly to bother trying to convince anyone of anything in a venue like this, it might be good for us all to consider our own and others' intentions and as well as our own and others' interests. If you intend only to offend, realize this. If that is not your intention, then please consider how your words are likely to be interpreted, given others' interests. If your intentions are honest, it is counterintuitive to be misconstrued. On the same token, ask yourself why a person might say what they did, and whether you have any biases or predispositions that might color your interpretation of their behavior. With any luck, there might be something productive to come out of these conversations.
For those of you with a really appropriate lolcat or similar meme for the occasion: Let's see it.
