DELETING @UMBC.edu ADDRESSES for Grads after ONE YEAR?!!!
This seems a little unreasonable

DoIT,
You recently made the change to gmail. Many of us use college email addresses to keep in contact with employers as we apply for grad school and jobs.
In addition, in this job market, it is critical to retain a reputable UMBC email address which has already been posted across so many resumes I have gave to employers. I also use the email for correspondence with activities outside of school (namely a ongoing effort to expand on my research with other universities). This is all under my umbc email address.
With so many other colleges (Princeton, Yale, Harvard, Stanford) - all colleges we aspire to compete with - offering an alumni email address at least, why do we have to lose such a valuable asset after investing so much money and time both at UMBC and in professional development via these umbc email addresses.
Since we have moved to gmail, why can't we be allowed to retain the email that has allowed us to expand our networking opportunities in these four years. Gmail has that capacity, its google!
I do not expect UMBC to cut me off after one year of graduation. This email address is CRUCIAL to maintaining a professional presence in this job market where employment searches can range from 6mo-1year.
Please address this situation for all recent graduates, email addresses should be allowed to keep around indefinitely.
