Fan Fiction!
Clearly this topic is entertaining to some folks, since Gregorio Vazquez's "fan-fiction" and "build your own adventure" threads have gotten a fair amount of attention.
James says he's bored of myumbc. So let's give him something to do. Or read. Really both.
Here are the rules:
1) Primary posts (i.e. ones that are not "in reply" to another post) are for posting your contribution to the story. Please try to refrain from posting canon fan fiction in sub-comments. Instead, use the "reply" feature to comment on the contributions and suggest new plot twists and character development, etc.
2) You can write anything, but the more effort you put into making it genuinely funny rather than mean or at someone else's expense, the better this venture will be overall and the more enjoyable it'll be for everyone. Plus, it'll probably go on longer! Everybody likes "to be continued"s!
Here's the setting: A long, long time ago, on a day far in the future, up from the farthest recesses of the internet underworld, myumbc descended. At once full of hilarity and minboggling emotional trauma that made everyone involved question what it meant to be human, myumbc spewed forth all manner of strange creations: there was the forum-troll, the fanatic, the fan in the attic, the "I do it for the lulz" flamingoes (so called because they 'go' a-'flaming' quite often on other people's posts), the "nice guy"s, the jokesters, a vast assortment of beffuddled freshmen, and many more besides. But the crowning achievement of myumbc's glory was the stamped and signed, personal letter from UMBC's President, vowing and forswearing that Freedom of Speech was a glorious gift too precious to be butthurt about. And speak myumbc did. But something was lurking in the starry depths of the sky below...something sinister and tantalizing...whether myumbc would continue to exist in the same condition as it always had been was a question that now seemed all to real....what was this threat to its trolldom?
YOU DECIDE! (first one to post continues the story! And so on and so forth)
