When I first saw the 'beefed up' campus police cars, I like many other students asked myself: what gives?

When I saw the segway cops today on campus I first started laughing (come on, this guy looks silly), and then began to wonder why on earth would our campus patrolmen need such a thing? Also, do 'we' pay for this equipment?
