I wonder if other students also face the same situation while using umbc email. Whenever, an email is sent to my umbc email, it took about 30-45 minutes to see it in the inbox.

I recently purchased something online. After making payment, the website automatically sent a link to my email so that I can download the product. A few minutes after I made the payment, I checked my umbc email, but I did not get the link. I had to wait till the next day. When I downloaded it, the link was already expired. But I dealt it with the vendor, and was resolved already.

Here is something that is possible.

• UMBC emails have to come through filtered server ( some body could have 'write' permission before the email owner get the email.
• It could also have unnecessary caching
  

or

• It is being screwed. 

I started feeling unsafe using umbc email. I have used it to apply jobs. I wonder if it would be completely safe if the employers contact me by my umbc email.
