White Conservatives
Why? Top 5 reasons you have trouble with the "Black" vote
**LONG RANT AHEAD**
5. Where have you been the last 3 years? Better yet, where have you ever been?
All the time we see Democratic politicians, white and black, at our churches, in our community, and listen to them on-talk radio. When is the last time Republicans have come to Harlem, Anacostia, Bankhead, Compton, Hyde Park, 5th Ward, Magnolia, West Oakland, or Plainfield?
The time you got lost and asked for directions with the window cracked and the door locked doesn't count.
4. You don't know the issues that matter to us.
We are used to Democrats lying to us about finding jobs and improving schools. They tapped that well. It's run dry. How about trying to understand why although white people are twice as likely to get arrested for violent crime, 60% of blacks and latino are in prison serving time for non-violent drug offenses? Did you know that predatory lending in the housing bubble was more prevalent in the black community? If you believe in welfare reform, why are Republicans putting forth initiatives to defund welfare to work programs, which are designed to get people (both white and black) off welfare?
Speaking of welfare....
3. DO NOT EQUATE WELFARE TO BLACK PEOPLE
-Welfare queen, fixed income, dependent on government no matter how you say it, we know you think we all love welfare. Like democrats have us on some social teat. Here's a news flash:
Black people loathe the welfare system and those who exploit it!
I know, I used to be on public assistance. And you hid it from people because you're embarrassed by it. And you got off it the first chance you get. Yes, some people are lazy and exploit the system. But for every "Welfare momma" you show me, I can show you a "Honey Boo Boo Child"
2. If you want to talk about jobs and unemployment, don't insuate its due to laziness.
- White conservatives, time and time again, will tell me about that Black guy they saw sitting in the welfare or unemployment line getting a check, instead of looking for a job.
Fact: Black people, on average, spend six to 12 months longer looking for a job than white counterparts of the similar education and experience.
Example: I was laid off of my job about 2 years ago. I was the most experienced person in my section, only person in the department with a degree, and have a higher clearance level. Every person who was white was hired within 30-60 days, I was unemployed for 4 months. In fact, my friend was offered a same job I applied for, even though they had less experience and no degree. Another job prospect gave me a verbal offer over the phone, based on my resume alone, only to meet me in person, ask me 5 general questions, 2 of them being "How was the commute?" and "How old are you?You look young.", and then informed I am not being considered.
That was the "nice story" I have worse..
Can't say they didn't hire me because I was Black, but I will say it's not easy and affirmative action ain't that "affirmative", and it ain't much "action"
We don't like it. We hate it. We hate it because it reminds us that some people have to be reminded to hire us.
Imagine coming fresh out of college with that fancy degree from UMBC. Thinking you are all super-smart because all your friends said you went to the "brainiac" school with the Black President with the "not-so-Black" sounding last name only to be secretly called "The Diversity Hire"
You bring it up, you will shut us out.
1. BLACK PEOPLE LOVE OUR COUNTRY. U S A! U S A!!
I know you hear a lot from New Black Panthers, NOI, Duncan Robinson, et. al. saying otherwise, but we have fought and died for this country. The first man to die for the Flag was a Black Man.
Yet, you call us "brainwashed", like we are drones. Any "hate" you think we have for this country, is really anger when we feel we are kept out of an American Dream we fight so hard to have. We are made to feel like we somehow need to "prove" that we are patriots, when we have proven it so many times for damn near 300+ years.
If you can understand this, you may get move votes. In 2016. Because you are screwed in 2012. Just saying.
