PNC: Pointless Niche of the Commons
Why everyone on campus has been screwed over

I'd like to vent about the huge, pointless inconvenience that is PNC "Bank" in the Commons.
In case you're new to campus or have never been to the Commons (because you buy your books online and pack lunch or something), what was formerly Capital One is now PNC after a fancy remodeling over the Summer. It looks super cool! But there are a few issues I have with every other aspect.
To start off, it is less useful than any normal bank. You cannot get change for bills. You cannot get a roll of coins. You can't even get a freaking lollipop.
According to an employee there, the Commons' PNC's function is to advertise to students who don't have PNC accounts, and to provide consultation for PNC account holders.
Yep. UMBC built a huge advertisement in the Commons. I think it's important to point out that the ONLY other place on campus with advertisements is the indoor track at the RAC. And those are signs for local businesses, not God knows how many dollars of fancy renovations.
Additionally, while there were two ATMs in the Commons before, now there is only one. So when it is out of order (as it was today), you'll have to travel to the University Center---which isn't impossible, of course, just potentially/probably an inconvenience. (As to be expected since the second ATM probably hadn't been placed there just for laughs.)
All places of service on the campus are there for students' convenience, meant to meet the various needs that they have as students. Some examples are places to quickly get food, send packages, exercise, and buy school supplies. I don't think that PNC is providing students with any of their *needs*.
So, say you do have a PNC account. Good for you! Now you can go and... Um... Ask questions about your account? Yeah, sorry. You can't get change, rolls of quarters, or lollipops either.
TL;DR: PNC sucks. I want Capital One, or at least real services back.
