Are Honor Societies worth the money they charge?
Is it real or is it a scam?

I recently received a third offer to join one of those high end honor societies. This one is even international with chapters in over 8 countries. While these societies lure students with networking opportunities, graduate school admissions and scholarships, a little google search pulls out all kinds of inappropriate behavior going on. So the question I have is, Is it worth the 80 or 100 dollars they charge?
And one more thing. How in the world do they keep track of my academic record?
