So called 'Egyptian patriotism' gotten this bad?

First of all, I am dismayed at these reactions. I am guessing this devolved from a religious conflict, perhaps a racial conflict, that has gotten out of hand politically and has poisoned minds. I would like to know what someone here, preferentially from Egypt, has to say about the attitudes herein.
