I don't understand what this accomplishes. We've all placed into our respective courses why do we need to prove that we know material if it isn't used in the course? Also, if more than one semester has passed since a prior course, you're even less likely to know it (and please don't give me the "not all teachers cover material" answer because I won't listen to that). So why is it graded and why does it count toward the final grade in an upcoming class? It makes absolutely no sense.
