I just graduated from UMBC and am looking for a roommate to share my 2 bedroom apartment with and thought this was a better idea than craigslist. I lived here my past semester and the commute to UMBC and quick and very easy. It's right near a 625 entrance, but at times when you want to avoid 625, you can take back roads that get you there in about 12 minutes.
It is the top floor of a house with its own private entrance, bath, and kitchen, so you rarely ever see the landlords downstairs. They do not have access to the apartment. The apartment is $1000 to rent, plus utilities, but I will only ask you to contribute $30 towards utilities, since my room is slightly larger than the room I'm renting out. We don't have cable, but I do pay to use the landlord's internet which you will have access to as well (included in the $30).
The apartment has one big space that includes a dining area and raised kitchen, plus the carpeted living space. The kitchen is a pretty good size and because of the layout, not cramped at all. There is also a washer and dryer in the kitchen. The room I am renting out is a pretty good size (much bigger than any dorm room) and has a large window. The closet in that room also has quite a bit of storage space.
Lastly, I have a cat, so you probably won't want to rent from me if you're allergic.
If anyone is interested, you can find me in the UMBC directory and I can send you pictures. A lot of the apartment is freshly painted, including the free room, but you can repaint the room if you like. I'm looking to rent it out as soon as possible, but if you want me to hold it for you until August, I would need $250 to hold the room, which you would get back when you move out. If you are willing to move in sooner, there is no deposit.
