This Post is About UMBC Police
And it's not a complaint this time

This morning, apparently a man was spotted walking around the apartments around Walker and West Hill with a gun. No email was sent out, but myumbc put up an alert banner and I believe cell phone alerts went out (can anyone verify?).
The weapon was found in the suspect's car, though the suspect is no longer in the vicinity, according to UMBC Police.
I just want to take the opportunity to point something out. Often, people take for granted when workmen of various trades and careers do their jobs, but everyone hears about it when they mess up. It makes for better television/headlines, apparently.
But whatever the police did today, the end result was that a possible act of violence may have been averted. All eyes certainly would have been on the police if something did happen, but now that nothing did, I wanted to point that out, so that the community is aware.
I just feel that the numerous people whose job it is to maintain the status quo are rarely appreciated for all the work they do just to make sure that you don't notice them--because if they do their jobs right, you'll never hear about it.
This post is just an attempt to rebel against that. Thanks, police!

PS Leave comments in support of, or in criticism of, the police here. Either one is fine. I'm not going to censor the comments. Just focus on the topic and don't attack me (why would you? Don't be a weirdo).
