Dharun Ravi : Fair Punishment?
Sentenced to 30 days after roommate commits suicide
Dharun Ravi was sentenced to thirty days in jail and three years probation for his role in the Tyler Clementi suicide for which he was ultimately charged with: bias intimidation, invasion of privacy and tampering with a witness and evidence.
He had been facing up to ten years in prison.
He is a convicted felon, and may still be deported to India where he is a citizen. And no doubt his name will be forever linked with this sad event.
A corrections officer in a pretrial memo recommended against incarceration and the judge said "he believed the State Legislature had intended prison time to be attached to crimes of violence, and there had been none."
What's your thought's? Should he have gotten more? Less? Or was that about right?
