Are there any transfer or non-tran. students who can help?!

Okk,
According to my account, I am under the impression that I was admitted but, I'm still waiting one the letter (should arrive over the weekend or Monday). From what I understand, the deadline for important documents and fees were due back in December. My problem is that, I am not coming in as a Sophomore or a Junior but a Freshman.
To go in depth, I applied for UMBC as a prospective freshman but did not get admitted. My letter indicated that if I sent a letter of interest, my application would be opened up for spring 2011. This was back in September 2010.
This is a problem because I noticed the deadline for important documents and fees were back in December and for things like housing- the students who were already admittedĀ (typically upperclassman to my understanding) were able to apply.
I'm sorry that this is long-winded but, I figured that you guys would be a bit more helpful than the staff. I'm kinda panicking, so I'm hoping someone can alleviate my confusion?
