Favorite video game music?
Which franchise had the best music?

The Sonic franchise has the best music, IMO. Although track 4 of an obscure game called Rolo to the Rescue, briefly heard here, comes close.
Of the newer games (which I haven't played; I'm too hipster), the Lee Brotherton remix of Dreams of An Absolution is a continual eargasm, and I hope you agree--if not, at least enjoy it:
...... What are your favorites? Sorry, but I was limited to the Sega Genesis as a kid, so you'll have to give a shoutout to your own favorites--I'll list the ones I'm aware of, from other game systems:
[NOTE: Anything goes, but I'm thinking more in terms of the 2D-era of video games (mostly since I'm curious, and I'm less familiar with games from that era outside of my own experience). In the list, I selected familiar-sounding video games from this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_game_franchises]
