I am a UMBC staff member and graduate student and am interested in starting up an outdoor club to organize student events such as hikes, rafting/canoeing trips, archery, hunting and fishing trips, etc.  To my knowledge, there are no clubs like this currently on campus.  

As many of you know, SGA can provide funding to student groups for such events and it would be nice to be able to go on these types of outdoor adventures with some monetary assistance from the school.  It is also my understanding that every club needs to have a faculty/staff sponsor or advisor.  I would be willing to take on that role.

Please contact me if you are interested as I would need at least 5 students to start the club.  Also, I would like to get some feedback from those interested as to whether or not hunting and fishing activities should be organized as a separate group (or sub-group) out of respect for those who have strong feelings against those types of activities.
