Like music? Hate the RIAA?
Help me help you help me.

I hate the RIAA, so I'm interested in finding independent musical artists that aren't attached to a RIAA-sponsored label.
So far, I really like Jamendo (http://www.jamendo.com), which has loads of Creative-Commons-licensed music. There's a startling amount of variety, and the tagging system lets you find specific genres easily (just click on any of the purple tags on http://www.jamendo.com/en/albums).
Unfortunately, the huge volume of albums is a bit overwhelming, which is where you guys come in: what's good? Your suggestions don't have to come from Jamendo, but I'm sure there a plenty of great artists on that site alone that I haven't discovered yet.
Some good artists I'd found that have a polished pop sound:
- Sean Fournier: http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/36026
- NYCO: http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/21530
- Leslie Hunt: http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/55594
- Jonathan Coulton: http://www.jonathancoulton.com/store/downloads/ (and if you're any kind of nerd who isn't listening to Coulton already, I'm not sure what you're doing with your life. Start from "Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow" and work upward.)
I admit I have fairly unsophisticated music tastes, but here's my promise to you: if you post it here, and it's not from an RIAA label, I'll listen to it at least once.
