My introduction to the well-oiled medical machine
One man's experience with the UHS

Granted, it's a bit wet out, but not so wet I didnt think my bike couldn't handle it. I was right for the most part until I tried using the hill above the pond to get from the upper street down to the bottom of academic row. All went well until that spot where the hill drains out and my bike tire slid out. As much fun as it was sliding, I managed to sustain a scrape to the knee. Nothing too serious, I figured it would stop hurting shortly. After it didnt, I decided it might be wise to seek out the best medical minds on campus.
I checked into the UHS at 10:40, provided my insurance card (why do I need to provide medical insurance for what could be alleviated with neosporin and a bandaid?) and was told I would be seen at 12. Twelve? Really? I've actually written this verbose account of my morning while I sat in the UHS waiting for something I could take care of myself if they'd give me the basic components of a first aid kit, but no... we shant be insulting their medical degrees today it would seem. I've also seen two people who came in after me go ahead of me so that's great too. For future spills is there anywhere on campus I can find the afore-mentioned basic first aid kit? I'm guessing the RAC and they'd even have ice I could put on it and there'd be no need for insurance or co-pays or any of this nonsense.
I guess the discussion I want to have is: Is this a routine experience at UHS or did I just get unlucky? Is this what I can expect of professional health services in the outside world?
